Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has publicly celebrated her son, Seni Saraki, after he was awarded a Grammy for his contributions to music production. The 28-year-old British-Nigerian producer clinched the Best Dance/Electronic Album award for his work on the collaborative project “Echoes of Lagos.”
Seni’s win, announced at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, marks the first time a Nigerian-born producer has been honored in the category. “This is a proud moment for our family and Nigeria’s creative industry,” Saraki wrote on Instagram, sharing photos of Seni holding the golden gramophone.
The project, which blends Afrobeat rhythms with electronic music, was praised for its innovative fusion of cultural sounds. Seni, who grew up in the UK but frequently visited Nigeria, has often cited his dual heritage as a key influence. “My roots are my inspiration. This award is for everyone pushing African music forward,” he said during his acceptance speech.
